This “extinction of the human race” statement is often attributed to Edward Teller but I can't find a reference to a specific time or place he said or wrote it. The closest I can find is the statement “The greatest shortcoming of the human race is our inability to understand the exponential function,” by a Manhattan Project colleague of Mr. Teller, physicist Albert Allen Bartlett.
